Wes Gratham is a retired professor of Hearing and Speech Sciences, having taught and done research at Vanderbilt University for 32 years before retiring in 2012. He has been an active member of Alliance Française de Nashville since 1999 and has served on the Board of AFN (as Treasurer) from 2009-2017.

Wes’ first real experience with the French language was when he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the West African country of Burkina Faso (1967-1969). Then his interest was rekindled in 1999 when he visited his daughter in Toulouse, France, where she was studying abroad for the year. Currently, his favorite activity of AFN is taking part in Cercle de Lecture, the monthly book club.
