Beginning French Classes

Beginner classes are offered on Monday evenings, from 6:00-8:00 pm.

The Beginner’s class is aimed at people who have had little to no previous exposure to French.

At the end of Beginner French, students should be able to recognize and use familiar words and simple phrases; introduce themselves and others; ask and answer basic questions about home, family, work, surroundings, etc.; communicate in a basic way when another person speaks slowly and clearly; describe a typical day; and understand tastes and activities of others.

In order to complete the Beginner’s level, we recommend that students follow up with the Beginner’s course Part 2 in the Winter and Part 3 in the Spring.

AFN also sells new copies of the required material. Students can buy the bundle (book and exercise book) for $45 from their teacher during the first few weeks of classes.

Supplementary materials supplied by the instructor may be used in class.
