The last Friday of each month AFN members and their guests meet to enjoy an entertaining and informative evening. Alliance Française de Nashville invites historians, artists, wine experts, distinguished foreign guests, and a variety of other fascinating people to be the presenters at these events. One month an art historian may intrigue us with a study of French paintings, while at the next meeting an author may reveal to us Jack Kerouac’s francophone roots. Past presenters include The Nashville Symphony’s Giancarlo Guerrero, Musica’s sculptor Alan LeQuire, the owner of Little Gourmand and delightful culinarian Guenièvre Milliner, and Michael Shane Neal, the portrait artist who painted the US Ambassador to France Charles Rivkin.
Each member or guest brings a favorite dish to serve eight to ten people and a bottle of wine to share. Please note that this event is for adults only. AFN Members attend for free, and their guests pay $5 each.
Soirées begin at 7:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm.
For more information about Soirées, contact Lenore Frey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The next soirée: October 26, 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of our regular soirée programming, we will take a field trip to the Frist Art Museum for A Night in Paris! The Frist Art Museum has invited AFN to host an information table at this event, which was inspired by the exhibition Paris 1900: City of Entertainment, and we encourage all AFN members to attend.
NOTE: October’s soirée will NOT take place at the Abbottsford Clubhouse (off Abbott Martin Rd. in Green Hills). The Abbottsford clubhouse is off the main street going through the neighborhood. Towards the back, the main road curves around to the left. Follow the curve, and then, as you start up a slight hill, the clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts will be on your right. Many thanks to Cindy Pfister and Natalie Hochman for hosting!
